Seán Mac Labhraí, from the Celtic department (who jointly adjudicates the Irish Language public-speaking competition "Abair") represented Coláiste Ollscoile Naomh Muire at this, the fifth annual Ri Chéile Celtic Convention hosted in Inverness.
The event is sponsored by three organizations, Gael Linn, Colmcille and Cumann na Gàidhlige (whose logos appear on the heading above). The objective is to deepen and broaden links between speakers and students of Irish Gaeilge and Scots Gàidhlig through an annual convention at which representatives from both Celtic languages address a bi-lingual audience. The venue alternates between Ireland and Scotland.
The 2008 forum was held at the Inverness Town House and was followed by lunch and a civic reception. The total group of 50 then visited Inverness Museum and were afterwards given a walking tour of Inverness.
A Social Night with local musicians/dancers/singers was held on the Thursday and the organizers were immensely pleased with the success of the event.
