Before returning home after participating in the Erasmus programme at St Mary's, three students from Krosno College in Poland paid a visit to the Polish Air Force graves in Milltown Cemetery.
Beata Kasprzyk, Jonna Kieltyka and Agata Wojcik laid a wreath at the graves of the men who were killed during the Second World War, preparing for the liberation of Europe between 1940 and 1944.
Dr Gerard McCann, their tutor at the College, commented:
"This is a very touching gesture by these young women on behalf of the students from Kracow, Warsaw and Krosno who study currently at our College. These men, most of whom were in their early twenties themselves, died for the liberty that Poland now has, and it is very fitting that two generations on their memory is still with us".
