St Mary's University College wishes to express its sorrow at the death of Inez McCormack.
Inez made an outstanding contribution to our society and had an international reputation in the field of human rights. She supported the College's Liberal Arts programme from its inception in 2000 and contributed regularly to the Year One speaker presentations in February and March. Inez was a great advocate of the Liberal Arts and supported students for years with work related placements. She had planned to give a talk to our first year students at the end of February.
Inez was very popular with the students with her no-nonsense approach to the issue of poverty alleviation and workers’ rights. She usually started her lecture with.. "the first time I was arrested I was your age...", which the students responded to immediately. God bless her.
