St Mary’s Students’ Union recently organised a number of fund-raising events for Breast Cancer Awareness.
A 'Pink Zumbathon' was held on Monday night, 21 October. On Tuesday, 22 October the College was covered in pink for the ‘Wear It Pink’ day. A stall was set up selling pink goodies: cupcakes, badges, nail files, combs and tickets for the raffle. The prizes were kindly donated by Scratch Mondays, The Fly, Braehead Cakes, Sweet Sisters and the Students’ Union. The pink party continued into the evening with a ‘Girls’ Night In’ in the Student Centre. The aim of the evening was for the girls to call in, get pampered (nails painted, hair curled), eat a few treats and at the same time, donate some money to charity.
The fund-raiser was a huge success and as a result the Students’ Union raised £752.00 for Cancer Focus, which will go towards Breast Cancer Awareness. The Students' Union President, Rachel O'Hare, thanked all the generous students and staff members who helped raise an outstanding amount. A huge congratulations also to Oonagh Hyndman, Women and Welfare Officer, who put a lot of hard work into organising the fundraiser.
