Former Ulster Colleges All-Star and now St Mary’s Hurling Club manager, Ruairi Devlin (pictured below), who is also Students’ Union Clubs and Societies Officer, is a key player on the team and a student at the College. The players have excelled under his guidance this year, having not won a competitive game for over three years.
“It is a massive achievement to have made it this far. We never would have expected to get to a championship semi-final, having not made any great progress in the last few years, but a good crop of first-year students coming in this year has helped to strengthen the squad”, said Devlin.
Indeed, the addition of quality players such as Antrim’s Conor Johnston have certainly strengthened the panel. We wish the boys the best of luck and know they will do us very proud in what is an outstanding achievement: to be competing on a national level for our College.
The boys throw in on Friday at 11:00 am for their semi-final versus Institute of Technology (IT) Sligo.
