PGCE students in St Mary’s welcomed their peers from Stranmillis University College for a day of workshops on Shared Education on Friday, 28 September 2018. Students from the two institutions attended an inspiring lecture by Dr Kay Muhr on Place names of Ireland. Students learned about the importance of preserving townland names and they developed their understanding of place names in their own localities.
The second part of the programme was led by Mrs Sinead Beare, Principal of Christ the Redeemer Primary School, along with her two colleagues, Marita Brophy and Nicola McKeown, who made presentations based on Shared Education projects in their school. Students took an active part in the event and eagerly joined in the discussion about Shared Education.
Bhain mic léinn TICO tairbhe as ceardlanna san Oideachas Comhroinnte Dé hAoine, 28 Meán Fómhair, 2018, i gColáiste Ollscoile Naomh Muire. I gcuideachta a gcomhscoláirí ó Choláiste Ollscoile an tSrutháin Mhilis, d’fhreastail siad ar léacht spreagúil a thug an Dr Kay Muhr ar logainmneacha na hÉireann. D’fhoghlaim na mic léinn faoin tábhacht a bhaineann le hainmneacha fearainn agus bhí deiseanna acu tuiscint a fhorbairt ar logainmneacha a mbailte féin.
Sa dara cuid den chlár, rinne Sinead Beare, príomhoide bunscoile, Christ the Redeemer, agus a comh-mhúinteoirí, Marita Brophy agus Nicola McKeown, cur i láthair ar na tionscadail san oideachas comhroinnte atá ar siúl sa scoil. Ghlac na mic léinn páirt ghníomhach i gceiliúradh an oideachais chomhroinnte agus i bplé na saincheisteanna a thóg siad.
