Year 14 students from St Mary's Christian Brothers' Grammar School (CBGS), alongside representatives from a wide and varied range of businesses, participated in a mock interview event at St Mary’s University College recently.
The year 14 students were separated into small groups and assigned to one of the business representatives from organisations including Bombardier, First Trust, Danske Bank and Business in the Community. The process offered the students the opportunity to participate in a mock interview, witness someone else being interviewed and also participate on an interview panel.
The mock interview experience is part of the school’s careers programme and is designed to equip pupils with the skills and knowledge required to complete an application form and perform effectively at interview.
One student commented, “It was a really good experience, I learnt how to cope under pressure in an interview and also picked up some tips.”
Feedback from the business representatives was very positive and they commented favourably on the maturity of the pupils and the high level of preparation they had done in advance.
