Lamh Dhearg GAC is one of many local groups availing of the indoor sports and training facilities at St Mary’s. Each Tuesday night they have between 20-30 children from the u8 group engaging in hurling and football. Using the indoor facilities enables the club to work on activities that they would not normally be able to do during the ‘outdoor season’. They can also incorporate other sports into their GAA training such as basketball, dodgeball, and indoor hockey, all of which offer transferable skills used in gaelic games.
Stephen Bunting from Lamh Dhearg GAC expressed his appreciation to St Mary’s:
“We want to place on record our huge appreciation to St Marys for the use of their fantastic facilities over the winter months and the professional manner in which they have dealt with us. Without these facilities our children would not have anywhere to train and we would probably lose them to another sport. We hope to continue our partnership after the summer months”.
