This week, to coincide with Europe Day, the international dimension of St Mary's Geography Department is centre stage. From Monday 8 May, we are hosting a group of twenty students from Windesheim University in The Netherlands and, for the fourth year in succession, they will join our students in classes. Their tutor, Dr Lex Stomp, will lead a seminar on the way in which education is adapting to contemporary social and economic change in The Netherlands.
This issue may surface again during the seminar which The Geography Society has arranged for Thursday 11 May at 12.45pm in R154. The theme is the Polish community in Northern Ireland and will be led by the local Polish priest, Fr Marius.
Midweek, Dr Susan Pitchford and her students from the University of Washington at Seattle will join us as part of the continuing Project ‘Identity, Memory, Conflict and Reconciliation', a project on Divided Cities.
