St Mary's University College was once again pleased to host the Easter School of the West Belfast Partnership Board from March 29th to April 1st 2016. The Easter School is targeted at GCSE pupils who are at risk of not achieving a Grade C in either English or Mathematics. The pupils are referred to the Partnership Board by local schools.
The Easter School is both a highly significant post-primary learning opportunity for school pupils, as well as a widening access to higher education programme. The Events Coordinator at St Mary’s, Eilís McAteer, handles the scheduling and logistics, whilst during the course of the week the College’s Widening Access Officer, Susan Morgan, facilitates the activities of the school with the support of student teacher volunteers. This year fifteen students volunteered their services. They were Aine Byrne, Hannah Campbell, Seaan Clancy, Eimear Donaghy, Gavan Duffy, Leah Fay, Aislinn Fitzgerald, Simon Lam, Sinead Logue, Niamh Lynch, Sorcha Martin, Eibhlin McAnaw, Niamh McGowan, Orla O’Boyle and Elena Smyth.
