Shared Education

There is a Shared Education Working Group at the College which is chaired by the BEd programme team leader, Martin Hagan. Joe Hughes is responsible for organisational aspects of Shared Education. A joint programme is agreed annually by both St Mary's and Stranmillis and submitted to DfE for funding.

Normally, first and second year BEd students at the University Colleges come together in the first term for mandatory courses. Third and fourth Year students are invited to attend seminars on the themes of ethos and leadership which are led by school principals. There are also 'extra-territorial' learning experiences for the students which are located in the USA and India. The PGCE students at the University Colleges also come together to share perspectives on a range of education issues.
