St Mary's purpose is to make a distinctive contribution of service and excellence, in the Catholic tradition, to higher education in Northern Ireland. The promotion of equality and diversity is an important part of this mission. We aim to reduce traditional impediments to the accessibility of higher education and to enable participation from across a wide spectrum of society.
It is the policy of St Mary's to provide employment equality to all in line with our duties under the law and our belief in the virtue of tolerance and diversity. The Equal Opportunity Policy aims to ensure that no person by reason
of their religious belief, political opinion, trade union activities,
sex, gender, marital status, pregnancy, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, and/or disability
is treated less favourably nor is disadvantaged for those reasons
by conditions or requirements.
This principle applies to applicants for employment, potential
applicants and to employees with respect to advancement, promotion,
transfer, training, benefits, facilities, procedures and all other
terms and conditions of employment. The College is committed
to implementing policies designed to promote equality of opportunity
and fair participation in employment and to reject absolutely
unlawful discrimination of any kind.
