My principal work is the teaching of academic writing, which is done through classes in the Liberal Arts Degree, through the St Mary’s Writing Centre, which makes use of peer tutors, and occasional seminars to staff and students.
Current Research
My current research interests are primarily in academic writing. I have written on writing across the curriculum, the development of writing centres, and have presented on reflective writing and practice as strategies for adapting to the latest A-Level English curriculum. My current research examines whether literacy levels are rising or declining at the undergraduate level by reviewing twenty years of my student writing at St Mary’s.
